Training Camp Festival features the Blackhawks’ young players at work

CHICAGO - The show loyalty among hockey fans could be seen on Saturday afternoon.

There are no Patrick Kane Jersey and Jonathan Toews or even Corey Crawford. Hossa and "The Breadman" are not there either. Hockey World Cup the players on the first days of Blackhawks training camp.

Once out crowd packed the United Center to see a majority, though not all of the team on Saturday afternoon for the annual Training Camp Festival. The event not only included a number of family activities outside but inside was an intra-squad scrimmage complete.

"I do not know what time they have been here, but I know it's early," said forward Ryan Hartman of the crowd on Saturday. "I'm amazed every time the result and how dedicated there are fans here. "

What they saw on Saturday could prove to be one of the themes of the season: youth.


Vincent Hinostroza got the fans excited with a pair of goals in the session 3-on-3 overtime on Saturday and it will be one of the youngest players to watch this season. Hartman, who praised the fans, will be another team that reloads with young players after the typical loss of players due to the salary cap.

"They are not only fill the lines," said veteran defenseman Brian Campbell. "We will need them to produce too."

Hartman could be one of those guys as he tries to find a full-time place on the list of Blackhawks. The young striker 22 years has played eight career games on the NHL level with most of its time in the last three seasons spent in Rockford, scoring 15 goals and dishing out 20 assists in 2015-2016.

"You do not want to look back on it and say you do not give everything you had," Hartman said of this training camp. "You want to go out there every day, every practice, every workout and give 100 percent and try to win your place."

"We must continue to push these children to get better and keep teaching them the tools and help them along the way," said veteran defenseman Brian Campbell. "It's a good harvest and it is time. It is a great whether there are jobs available to come into the camp.

"We've just got to continue to support these children."

Indeed, there will be many more of them when the puck drops for real on October 12.
